There are several reasons for headaches. Most are not serious, and once the cause is established they can often be helped by simple changes in lifestyle. One cause is tension or strain in the muscles and joints of the neck and upper back.
Treatment from an osteopath may help. Gentle massage to tight muscles and manipulation to loosen the joints of the neck, thorax and back can relieve the build-up of muscular tension that may lead to headaches. We can also advise on exercise, lifestyle and simple posture changes at work or while driving.
Common conditions treated
- Cervicogenic headaches, arising from the neck

- Tension and an inability to relax
Headaches have many causes. If your headaches are new, severe, or come with other symptoms, please see your GP. We are always happy to talk through whether osteopathy is appropriate for you.
